Remote Consultations for Musculoskeletal Advice and Rehabilitation Support
Dr Christoph Datler offers remote appointments and video consultations for patients who would like musculoskeletal advice, movement assessment, rehabilitation guidance or follow-up support from home. Remote consultations can help you understand your symptoms, receive a working diagnosis where appropriate, and start targeted self-help strategies, exercises or stretches.
Where hands-on assessment or treatment is more appropriate, Dr Datler may recommend an in-person appointment at the Bromley/Shortlands or Blackheath clinic.

How does it work?
|
Remote consultations are arranged by video or phone. Before your appointment, you will receive clear instructions on how to join the consultation.
You will usually need a phone, tablet or computer with internet access. If you are unsure about the technology, the clinic can talk you through the steps before your appointment. The most suitable consultation method will be agreed with you before the appointment. |
What benefits can you expect from your remote appointment?
|
- LISTEN
I will listen carefully to your concerns and case history and ask relevant questions to help me structure the assessment and get to the source of your symptoms - ASSESS You will be asked to go through a series of specific movements or positions to help me test what causes your pain. These will be demonstrated by me and you will get clear instructions what to look out for - DIAGNOSE Combining your case history and movement assessment, Dr Datler will discuss a working diagnosis where appropriate, explain what may be contributing to your symptoms, and agree a plan of action with you. - DISCUSS We will then discuss self help or where possible self treatment (I will show you how and where to use massage balls or everyday objects to treat your joints and muscles). I will also demonstrate and instruct you through targeted exercises and stretches to start your recovery - FOLLOW-UP You will get an email with the write-up of your homework and have the opportunity to arrange a follow-up appointment to check on your progress or discuss any concerns you might have |
Why remote appointments?Remote appointments can be useful if you are unable to attend the clinic in person, are travelling, need follow-up support, or would like advice before deciding whether an in-person appointment is appropriate.
They can also be helpful for reviewing exercises, discussing progress, adapting rehabilitation plans, and giving practical self-management advice for musculoskeletal pain or injury. What conditions can benefit?Remote appointments may be suitable for many musculoskeletal concerns, including back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, muscle tension, stiffness, postural problems, mobility issues and rehabilitation questions.
Some symptoms are better assessed in person. If your presentation suggests that hands-on examination, treatment or medical referral is more appropriate, Dr Datler will advise you accordingly. |
